110823 Jaejoong Gets New Hairdo for “Protect the Boss”

Jaejoong Gets New Hairdo for “Protect the Boss”

JYJ’s Jaejoong has gotten a new hairdo called, “Dandy Wolf Cut,” for his Cha Moo Won role in SBS drama“Protect the Boss.” In a photo revealed today, Jaejoong is seen sporting a slightly different look from previous episodes, making many wonder what motivated his change in style.

According to the production crew, Jaejoong got the new hairstyle because Cha Moo Won, Jaejoong’s role in “Protect the Boss,” has recently been rejected by Na Yoon (Wang Ji Hye’s role) and tension between him and Ji Hun is starting to intensify. Jaejoong wanted to reflect the renewed focus and commitment in his role through this new hairstyle.

“After getting a new hairstyle, the way I treat my role has changed a bit. I’m starting to feel like I should work harder to better-portray the sharp image of Moo Won in the drama,” Jaejoong said.

You can check out Jaejoong’s new hairstyle on the next episode of “Protect the Boss” on August 24th at 9:55PM KST. How do you like his new style? Does he look like a “dandy wolf”?

110822 JYJ’s Jaejoong Continues to Receive Praise for His Acting

JYJ's Jaejoong Continues to Receive Praise for His Acting

After receiving positive feedback from his seniors in the field, JYJ‘s Kim Jaejoong‘s acting is also being praised within the academe – Kim Min Sung, chairman of the board of directors of Seoul Arts College, has given his praise.

In response to Jaejoong’s role as Cha Mu Won in SBS’ “Protect The Boss“, which is not the drama’s main lead character, the chairman comments, “In contrast to majority of idol stars who appear glitteringly as lead characters with their popularity on their backs, the role that Kim Jaejoong has taken on is the sub-lead, the rival in love to the male lead. This drama in which ability-oriented actors such as Ji Sung, Choi Kang Hee, and Park Young Kyu are lined up, Kim Jaejoong is receiving great love through his stable acting and fantastic collaborative synergy.”

He then goes on to praise Jaejoong’s acting and mannerisms on screen, stating that, “As befitting as a top artist who conquered the stage of Asia, the acting of his eyes particularly stand out. Furthermore, even the stable vocalization and mid-low voice jump over the passing marks and near the honor marks.”

However, it is not only Jaejoong’s acting which was subject to praise, but also his ability to challenge various fields of the entertainment industry, “Just as his role in the drama who is the perfect man equipped with manners, abilities, and the art of living, Kim Jaejoong has many talents. As fitting of an idol, singing and dance come standard, but he is multi-talented—composing songs, writing lyrics, and directing performances. Since acting abilities are to be added to the mix, the term “Renaissance man Idol” is not enough.”

After making his acting debut in 2009’s “Heaven’s Postman” and his TV debut in the Japanese drama “Hard to Say I Love You“, Jaejoong made his Korean drama debut just this year. He currently stars in the hit SBS drama “Protect the Boss”, alongside Ji Sung, Choi Kang Hee and Wang Ji Hye.

“Protect The Boss” is not only breaking records and topping ratings – “Muneunim”, a term coined by the hit series, is now a registered entry of Naver’s online dictionary.

Searching for the term on Naver’s dictionary will direct to the following definition:

“A compound wordconsisting of the name of Cha Mu Won (Kim Jaejoong) of the SBS drama “Protect the Boss” and Haneunim (T/N: Korean word for “God”). 110818 “Protect The Boss” Ratings Pass 20% Mark

"Protect The Boss" Ratings Pass 20% Mark

The fifth episode of SBS‘ Wednesday-Thursday drama “Protect The Boss” experienced a significant rise in ratings, passing the twenty percent mark.

AGB Neilson reports a record 20.5% rating in Seoul and 17.8% nationwide. This makes “Protect The Boss” the only currently airing drama in both the Monday-Tuesday and Wednesday-Thursday schedules to bring in more than 20% of the viewership share. It is also apparently the fastest drama to reach the figure, compared to previous hit dramas such as “City Hunter“, “49 Days” and “The Best of Love“.

This increase in ratings is attributed to the double kiss scene at the end of the episode, which involved lead characters Cha Ji Hoon (Ji Sung) and No Eun Seol (Choi Kang Hee), as well as Cha Mu Won (Kim Jaejoong) and Seo Na Yoon (Wang Ji Hye).

In response to this, the production team of the drama have stated, “As for the kiss scene with Kim Jaejoong and Wang Ji Hye, we filmed it so carefully to the degree that we even put a gag order on the production crew. The response of the viewers was heated and so we were thankful. We will be even more thankful if you will keep watching to see how the stories will unfold for the two couples who have now kissed.”

“Protect The Boss” airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 9:55PM KST on SBS.
